I have a tool or method to get the best out of myself

I tried everything to lose weight

At age 53, I feel like I’m in the best shape of my life, but before I had the habits, I was completely out of balance: fifty pounds overweight, out of balance emotionally. I had a lot of stress in my life and I was eating like a sumo wrestler. I had one big meal a day and no matter how much exercise I did, I couldn’t lose any weight.

I had one big meal a day and no matter how much exercise I did, I couldn’t lose any weight.

I got to the point of giving up until I met Dr. Andersen. I learned about these habits and I made a couple of shifts and I lost 50 pounds* in less than a couple of months. But more importantly, I made these habits part of my lifestyle. I have a healthy mind, I surround myself with healthy people, and that’s one of the reasons I’ve kept it off for sixteen years.

When I met Dr. A, he looked at my lifestyle and he said, “You’ve got a couple of really good pillars. Your exercise is great, your surroundings are great.” The challenge was my nutrition was off. I was eating one or two big meals a day. I wasn’t hydrating properly, I wasn’t getting the right amount of sleep, and my activity was actually too much for a guy that was fifty pounds overweight. Now I feel like every day I have a system. I have a tool or method to get the best out of myself, and I’m excited to say that at age 53, I’m getting into a group to go on a two-week surf adventure in Indonesia, and I feel like a 25-year-old.

The biggest MacroHabit that instantly had an impact on me was eating small frequent meals that are low-glycemic in healthy portions. I used to skip meals all day long, work out, and then have a big meal at night. It was messing with my metabolism, my blood sugar, my moods, and my focus. Having that MacroHabit working for me has changed everything. I’m doing hikes, I’m surfing, I’m doing these fun things. It keeps me young, it keeps me motivated, and it makes me want to work on all the Habits of Health.

I became a health coach right at the beginning of my journey. I was looking for a team of people that wanted to make a big difference in the world, and I saw Dr A’s vision. I jumped in as a client and a coach at the same time. But being a coach has been such a blessing. I’ve been able to not only transform my life, but then pay it forward and help other people get their lives back.

For me, surfing was my passion. That’s why I work out: I’ll train, I’ll do whatever it takes so I can go out and have fun in those big waves. What’s fun about being a coach is I get to help people find their thing, their passion, and then give them a system and a method to help them get their life back.

What I love about the Habits of Health system is that it’s comprehensive. It doesn’t just focus on exercise or diet. Within the first week or two, I knew I could do this for the rest of my life. It was a total transformation, and I’m so glad I embraced it.
