I learned how to hydrate and why it was important

Habits of Health 10 year graduate

I actually started my health journey back in June of 2008. I wasn’t the example to my patients that I wanted to be, and I couldn’t create the health that I wanted to create for myself. So how could I  have the tools to be able to help my patients?

I’d been struggling with my weight and my health for about nineteen years, and it seemed that no matter what I did, something always happened where I just hit a wall and quit, and I couldn’t figure out why.

The Habits of Heath was the missing part of the jigsaw

Then I found the Habits of Health, and all of a sudden, the pieces of the puzzle came together. My husband and I did our journey together. We lost a combined 99 pounds in five months.* And more importantly than that is that we really developed a change of mindset.

We developed a different way of thinking, a different way of being, a different way of making choices, and a different way of living. I learned what healthy eating
looked like. I learned how to hydrate my body and why that was important. I learned that I didn’t have to be crazy at the gym in order to incorporate healthy motion in my life, but that I could do the things that gave me joy: hike with my family, water ski, snow ski, do the things that really involved motion. And when I started doing that and actually having fun doing that, it made me want more.

I wasn’t the example to my patients that I wanted to be, and I couldn’t create the health that I wanted to
create for myself.

My coach helped me look at things differently

For me, the Habits of Health made a difference because I wasn’t on the journey alone.

Having that coach, which I was a little bit resistant to in the beginning, was somebody there that helped me to look at things differently. When you can partner with someone to show you a different way, that opened up a whole new world. I learned different ways of first finding out where my struggle areas and unhealthy habits were. Once I could identify them and had the support of my coach and all of the education and support pieces that went along, that made all the difference in the world.

When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. And that’s what the Habits of Health Transformational System gave me. It’s the opportunity to change the way I looked at things, and the choices that I made in my life really changed where my outcome was going to be.
