Swimming and other water exercises are great ways to meet your movement goals and are especially beneficial for the elderly, those who have arthritis, or anyone who’s recovering from an injury. The buoyancy of water reduces your weight by about 80-90 percent, minimizing the amount of stress on your weight-bearing joints, bones, and muscles, while still giving you a workout in all three key areas of our movement system: cardio, strength training, and flexibility. Check out your local community recreation center or health clubs in your area to see if they offer swim classes and pool memberships. Indoor swimming is a great way to stay fit during the winter months.

Swim for your life!
