Year-End Journal Assignment

12.22.23 |

Whether you started your journey a year ago or a week ago, that time may have gone quickly or slowly. Regardless of how it felt, each day is progress toward your goal. You’re writing a new story for yourself, and that can change everything for you.

If you are using Your LifeBook, page 532 has an exercise that you can use to measure your overall progress from where you started to where you are now.

Again: This will look differently for everyone. Your journey is your own, and you shouldn’t compare your progress of a few months against someone who has been on the journey to optimal wellbeing for a year or more.

More important than comparing yourself to others is assessing your own progress to learn more about yourself and your journey. Comparing your health scores from when you started to now is about celebrating your progress and identifying the opportunities you have for making even more progress in 2024.

If you are already using Your LifeBook, retake the assessment on page 532 and compare it to your original scores. If you aren’t using Your LifeBook yet, that’s okay. We can ask some general questions to help you reflect on your 2023:

  • How has your physical health changed this year? What have you learned from those changes?
  • How have your thoughts, emotions, and actions changed this year? What did those changes teach you?
  • How have your levels of success and fulfillment changed this year? What do you take away from those observations?
  • Using the creative process, imagine where your life can grow from here. Write down that vision for yourself and make a list of the steps you need to take to achieve that vision.

This exercise is for you and you alone. There are no right or wrong answers, and you aren’t in trouble if you haven’t made as much progress as you hoped to make. No roadtrip goes exactly to plan, but if you take a moment to pause, reflect, and learn from your journey, the next stage of your transformation is just around the corner.
